Fisking i Namibia     

.

To timers kamp med en Copper shark på 2.20m, fra land. Utras på flere hundre meter og kamper som strekker seg over flere timer. I februar er fisket langs kysten av Namibia på sitt aller beste. Eller verste, om man vil.



Reisemålet er Swakopund, en liten idyllisk by ved Swakoelvens munning på Afrikas vestkyst. Namibia er er svært karrig og tørt land, men langs kysten yrer det av liv, både over og under havflaten. Ibex Tours har gleden av å kunne tilby en sportsfiskeropplevelse du aldri vil glemme.

Fisket foregår fra strand, klipper og fra båt
. En normal fiskedag starter normalt ved syvtiden om morgenen og varer til utpå ettermiddagen. Eller til fiskerne er utslitt, noe som er et vanlig fenomen. Sesong er fra juli til mars, med februar som topp på haifiske. Da fanges det hai på 90% av fiskedagene.














Trip 1

Day 1
Arrival at Walvis Bay airport, transfer to your accommodation in Swakopmund. (Hotel / Pension) Short city tour and the evening at leisure.

Day 2
Full day angling by boat, starting from the Mole or Mile 17. Return to Hotel at about 16:00. Evening at restaurant in town.

Day 3
Depart at about 07:30 to Cape Cross, angling along the coast as far as Mile 108 with emphasis on shark angling. Return to Mile 72 in the afternoon and stay overnight at the very nice Cape Cross Lodge Accommodation with full board

Day 4
After breakfast enjoy another angling day in the area between Cape Cross and Mile 108,. Return to lodge in the late afternoon. Accommodation with full board

Day 5
A full day's beach angling in the vicinity. Accommodation with full board

Day 6
Drive back to Swakopmund, visiting Henties Bay for lunch at the hotel and stop to view the lichen fields at Wlotzkas Baken. Arrival in Swakopmund in the afternoon; rest of day at leisure. Accommodation in a pension with breakfast and dinner

Day 7
Full day surf angling along the beach between Swakopmund and Mile 32 with emphasis on shark. Returning to Swakopmund late aftenoon and evening at leisure. Accommodation with breakfast and dinner

Day 8
Morning at leisure and in the afternoon transfer to Walvisbay airport, flight back to Windhoek for your connecting flight in the evening from Windhoek International airport.

Trip 2


Day 1
Guests arrive at Windhoek International Airport in the morning and fly further to Walvis Bay. Transfer to Swakopmund and check nice guest house. After lunch we will give you a short introduction to familiarise you with the conditions applying to angling at the coast. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to take in the sights of this lovely old German colonial seaside resort. Accommodation in 2-bed room with breakfast

Day 2
First angling day by boat between Swakopmund and Mile 14, depending upon where the fish are biting. Expected catches are:- Cob, Black tail, Westcoast Steenbras, Catfish and various species of shark. Evening at leisure. Accommodation – B&B.

Day 3
A full day's surf angling - the 300km long coastline between Sandwich Harbour and the Ugab River mouth offers excellent angling spots, especially with a view to landing the much wanted Copper shark (up to 180 kg) - an absolute thrill for every sport fisherman.

Day 4
Another day of fishing at the coast—your choice of boat- or surf angling.

Day 5
Full angling day - either surf- or boat angling. Evening at leisure. Accommodation – B&B.


Day 6
Transfer to Walvis Bay for your flight to Windhoek. Check into Hotel/Pension and have the evening at leisure. Accommodation – B&B.

Day 7
Transfer to Windhoek airport for the flight to Katima Mulilo. After arrival transfer to a fishing lodge, situated on the Zambezi river, 20 km outside of Katima Mulilo. After lunch we start angling on the river by boat and will enjoy an incredible sunset before returning to the lodge for dinner. Accommodation in Chalets with full board

Day 8
Full day fishing - hook Africa's premier freshwater game fish and your rod comes alive in your hands as the Tigerfish dives, fights and tails along the surface offering the angler, weight for weight, the battle of his life. Apart from the famous Tigerfish (up to 12 kg), one may expect some "bites" from various other species such as African Pike, Broadhead Catfish, Sharptooth Catfish, Blotched Catfish and Leopard Squeaker. Lodge accommodation with full board.

Day 9
Full angling day at the river - we are ecology conscious and actively encourage catch and release. Lodge accommodation with full board.

Day 10
Another day's angling where hopefully the success of catching the much wanted Tigerfish will realize. Lodge accommodation with full board.

Day 11
Final day of angling. Enjoy the last day at the Zambezi and try your luck once more for the "Big Catch". Lodge accommodation with full board.

Day 12
Morning at leisure when you have your last chance to watch the famous Fish Eagle and listen to the "sounds of Africa". Transfer after lunch to Katima Mulilo for the flight to Windhoek International Airport, where you wait for your evening flight back home.

What to pack

As temperatures can be very high during the summer months,clothing made from cotton rather than synthetic fibres is preferable.During winter,light clothing combined with a sweater and/or jacket is recommended,as it becomes cold in the evenings and early mornings.Important items to pack: comfortable walking shoes,swimsuits,binoculars,sun hats,sun block,sunglasses,mosquito repellent, battery or conventional razors.
