SUGGESTED ITINERARY FOR
ANGLING IN ICELAND – DELUXE This time we have decided to go for a more deluxe experience, heading for one of the most famed rivers in the country – Laxá in Adaldal. Please see description of the river here below: Laxá in Adaldalur: is the ultimate
goal of all keen anglers in Iceland, but unfortunately since it is so popular
it is often hard to get access to the river during the main angling
season. The biology of the river is
quite unique, it is the only outflow of the Lake Mývatn, a true nature pearl
in the north east part of Iceland. The lake is fed by clear water springs as
well as geothermal hot springs and provides rich plankton supporting the
habitat of mosquitos, trout and ducks. The area is a wonderland for birders and
the reason why anglers are attracted to the river is not only it´s richness
in fish but also it´s extraordinary natural beauty and mild climate. Laxá is
one of the largest and most expensive samlon rivers in Iceland famous for
producing large 2sw salmon and prdigious numbers of wild brown trout. The river is a fly-fisher´s delight and is
exclusive to one rod. One fishing rod
includes private accommodation in single rooms at the fishing lodge equipped
with open floor kitchen, a spacious living room and a nice veranda with
furniture and a gas barbecue offering splendid panoramic views of the
surroundings. There are several places of
interest to visit in the surrounding areas such as:
